The Tax Department informs the public that fraudulent emails are circulating, bearing the logo of the Government Portal "GOV.CY." These messages attempt to deceive unsuspecting citizens into scanning a QR code in order to allegedly receive a tax refund. They also cite an incorrect email address, falsely referencing the new IT System TAX FOR ALL (TFA).
Attention: Such messages are designed to steal bank account information or other personal data. The Tax Department strongly advises anyone receiving such emails to ignore them.
It should be noted that VAT, Income Tax, and other refunds are issued only via bank transfer to the IBAN account number that the taxpayer has officially declared to the Department, through secure procedures.
Furthermore, any email communication from the Tax Department with taxpayers is conducted exclusively through addresses ending with: @tax.mof.gov.cy.
