The Department of Labour has announced a few changes to take place from September 2017.

A penalty of €500 will be applied for each employee working without being registered at the social insurance office, this is multiplied by the months of non-registration. Each employer has the responsibility to provide the details of the new employee at the social insurance office one day before the employee starts working.

Each employer should keep a recruitment record for all employees with the following information:

–       Employee serial number
–       Name and surname
–       ID / Passport and social insurance number
–       Hiring date
–       Employment starting date
If an employee does not have a social insurance number then he should fill in an application which in turn the employer has the responsibility to submit at the social insurance office within 7 days.
